Atf+4 gallon walmart
If you don't want to pay a premium, then I like Valvoline ATF + 4. At any rate, I'd swap the factory fluid by 15k miles. It is cheap and easy. Even WalMart ATF+4 is good and $5 a quart, last I checked. Valvoline is only a buck or two more. But I really think you should drive a JK for awhile. It shifts like a dump truck compared to the JT/JL.WalMart has it in quarts only in their SuperTech brand. So, there you go - use the Valvoline MaxLife IF you are ok with the slipperier later 'backwards compatible' 236.14 OR the just as easily sourced 'ATF+4' for Chrysler / Mopar that all had identical Tranny specs. '96 F-150, 4.9L/2WD/M5OD-R2 transmission. I bought the truck recently and changed the oil, which looked like burnt dumpster juice. I used a gallon of cheap parts store trans fluid and drove it 3,000 miles, then changed it for a gallon of D4.
